| Job Description: |
General Objectives:To supervise the MCH nursing staff and the use and maintenance of equipment to provide midwifery care to the patients according to MSF guidelines/ protocols and doctors instructions. Enforce policies, procedures and work flow of the MCH in collaboration with the MAM, MAM assistant and the midwife supervisor. To act as the focal point for nursing care, ensure quality patient care and the daily management of the MCH.
Key responsibilities:
- Is the direct supervisor/line manager of all midwives/MCH nurses, LHV and Paramedical Technicians working in MCH (labor/delivery/postnatal) and the Post-Operative Ward (POW).
- Supervise and ensure correct weekly pharmacy orders and monitoring consumption of all medication and other pharmacy supplies in MCH and POW, with support from MAM assistant when required.
- Is the main clinical supervisor in relation to technical- and medical care provided in the labor room and POW, with support from MAM-assistant and in close collaboration/ communication with GYN doctors (MCH and POW and/or Anesthetist (POW).
- Offer support and advice to patients and their attendants in case of any complication e.g. miscarriages, stillbirths, neonatal death and abnormalities.
- During a clinical crisis, or the management of an obstetric critical patient, helps the nursing team closely in terms of supervising of care and/ or providing direct clinical assistance
Qualifications:
- Nurse Diploma with valid PNC card
- One year experience in obstetrics/delivery service in a hospital setting is a plus
- Good communication skills in English, Urdu and Pashtu |
