Job Description:

Médecins Sans Frontières is recruiting a Paediatrician Supervisor for the NBU of Peshawar Women's Hospital.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

Provide new-born care to patients according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the new-born health conditions and sustain the ongoing enhancement of the Peshawar Women’s Hospital New-born Unit.

  • Manage the team of MO under his/her direct responsibility, supervising their performance, organizing and scheduling shifts and rotations in collaboration with the HR department and the Hospital Manager
  • Support clinical supervision of the Medical staff in the correct use of MSF neonatal protocols
  • Manage neonates from admission to discharge, ensuring prescription and administration of relevant medical care, supervising isolation of patients and palliative-care, supporting resuscitation, together with linking with families and staff members
  • Supervise and follow up referrals
  • Ensure good communication flow within the team and with the other hospital departments
  • Participate in mortality meetings, medical and project strategy meetings, etc.
  • Coordinate trainings for permanent and visiting medical staff in neonatal field
  • Support other MSF projects with regular visits for trainings and technical supervision
  • Produce monthly activity report and data analysis
  • Increase links with local health authorities
  • Ensure good relations with MOH colleagues and other partners for networking and potential for shared training and development 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND CONDITIONS

  • Post graduate qualification in paediatrics including MRCP, FCPS, MCPS or equivalent, registered with PMDC
  • Preferably neonatologist or General Paediatrician with an interest/experience in Neonatology
  • Knowledge of WHO and/or national new-born protocols
  • Previous experience in supervision
  • Previous experience with CPAP
  • Ability to respond quickly in case of emergency
  • Previous experience with MSF would be an asset
  • Fluent in English and Urdu (Pashto is desirable)
  • Good clinical skills, Teamwork, Flexibility, Patience, Diplomatic communication, Commitment, Reporting skills, Stress management

WORK LOCATION:      Peshawar

CONTRACT:                 Permanent

START DATE:              May 2019
