· The Patient Support Officer provides the efficient and effective Administration support required for the functioning of the ophthmalogy at Hashmanis Group of Hospitals.
· Provision of an efficient and polite Reception and Administrative service for the department involving liaison with Doctors, and Patients.
· Excellent customer service, treating both patients and staff with respect and equality while being responsive to their needs.
· Compilation of statistics and preparation of statistical reports as required.
· Keenly observe patients que management system
· Ensure that a courteous and presentable image is displayed to the public, patients and staff at all times and to exercise initiative in the performance of duties to ensure best practice.
· Provide efficient, effective Administrative support to local and visiting staff, to assist them in providing a high quality health care service to the community, and to ensure the efficient and smooth running of the service.
· Carry out computerized data entry and word processing functions efficiently.
· Undertake a range of operational tasks and general clerical duties including accurate data entry, mail, filing, photocopying and faxing. Scheduling of patient appointments and registering presentations.
· Support patients regarding Social welfare, billing and discharge procedure.
· Ensure provision of courteous and effective telephone service, answering routine telephone enquiries from patients, staff members and the general public in a timely manner, offering assistance and re-direction or taking messages when required.
· Support Medical Record Management, Medical Typing and processing of Doctors letters and reports for ophthmology staff.
· Ensure patients are registered promptly and prepare patients files in accordance with policy and procedures for the ophthmology department.
· Maintenance of the filing system for the ophthmology department.
· Preparation of Agendas and recording, typing and distribution of minutes. Arrange venues as required.
· Ensure adequate stock of office equipment and stationary is maintained and responsible for requisition of additional goods and services as required.
· Review own practice to identify opportunities for improvement and act on them.
· Perform other duties consistent with Terms of Employment as may be directed or implied from time to time.
