Qualification/Experience:
Medical/Paramedical professionals i.e those holding an MBBS/B.ScN or an equivalent qualification with 5 to 7 years’ work experience related to managing work activities in the operation theatres of a medium to large hospital. Those holding an MBA in Hospital/Health Care Management or pursuing this qualification and having 5+ years related work experience are also eligible to apply for this position. The incumbent should have 2 to 3 years supervisory level experience in an administrative position at a management level. Candidates should have good skills for communication in English & Urdu, be competent for team building, have leadership capabilities, good interpersonal skills, and be proficient at use of MS Office.
Job Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Sr. Manager Operation Theatres, the incumbent will be responsible to
i) Manage scheduling of surgeries/procedures including emergencies in each of the operation theaters assigned in coordination with respective surgeons and for assigning suitable paramedical staff and required equipment and instruments.
ii) Ensure adequate supplies of consumables, medicines and other items required in the OT.
iii) Ensure that all equipment in OTs are in good working order and that timely maintenance of the same has been undertaken.
iv) Prepare duty roster for staff working in the assigned OTs
v) Monitor performance of staff to identify functional training needs and guide them accordingly.
vi) Coordinate with vendors of equipment and instruments for training of staff in OT as and when required e.g on purchase of new equipment/instruments.
vii) Coordinate with Diagnostic Laboratory for tests of specimens of patients who have undergone surgeries or procedures for timely delivery and to maintain required records which are readily accessible.
viii) Ensure that laid down safety protocols are compiled with by all those working in and present in the OTs.
ix) Ensure timely communication to Billing Department as per procedures/surgeries carried out on respective patients in assigned theaters.
x) Ensure safe custody of patient files and timely return to the assigned wards with shifting of patient, and confidentiality of patient’s information.
xi) Coordinate with Central Sterilized Department (CSSD) for timely provision of required instruments.
xii) Coordinate with Housekeeping Department for maintaining hygiene standards in the assigned OTs, as required.
xiii) Prepare periodic reports pertaining to various performance indicators for Operation Theater and discuss supervision related analysis with HOD OT.
xiv) Ensure continued quality improvement of services and work processes and compliance with all quality, environment and safety management system requirements and duly participate in related work activities and be responsible for the same for departments’ work assignments.
