Objective 1
Ensure effective management of clinical and other ailments at OTP
Tasks & responsibilities
- Plan and organise CMAM activities at designated distribution sites in liaison with health facility Incharge and District Nutrition Officer.
- Work closely with ACF and DoH (DNO) /PPHI staffs to ensure all aspects of the programme are understood and agreed, appropriate referrals take place to, and from the CMAM and the programme is well integrated into the health systems.
- Supervise the activities of the community groups (CNVs, MTMSG, PLW/Caregiver groups and TBAs)
- Work closely with the health facility staff and LHWs to ensure all children are screened correctly at health facility/CMAM centre and within targeted area.
- Ensure all criteria are respected and understood by the team and community groups, including admission, discharge and transfer to and from the CMAM.
- Ensure comprehensive health checks and treatment according to the protocols.
- Ensure correct clinical diagnosis at the time of assessment so that the patient receives appropriate treatment in the relevant program.
- Timely identification of complications, non-responder, and referrals to the SC and strong follow-up up until discharge for re-admission in OTP.
- Review the forms completed by health facility staff and community groups to ensure completion, accuracy and coherence.
- Ensure effective IYCF services are provided with Coordination of Health Staff as per National protocol guided in Pakistan IYCF strategy.
- Ensure adequate availability of all medical and food supplies and ensure stock is pre-positioned as planned by discussing with logistics
- Follow-up and provide feedback to the health facility Incharge and District Nutrition Officer on the amount and quality of the treatment supplies if it does not comply with specified quality standards.
- Report on progress and any problems in a timely manner to health facility Incharge and District Nutrition Officer.
- Ensure cases not meeting admission criteria return home as early as possible and understand why their child is not admitted
- Through liaison with the community groups, provide effective follow up of all cases: particularly tracing of children who are absent from the programme, sick children, long stay children, children not gaining weight, and children with social problems etc.
- Development of fact sheets and other training materials as required for the MOH health staffs under the guidance of District Nutrition Officer.
- Provide key health and education messages to beneficiaries based the protocol and guidelines
- Respond to inquiries regarding the technical aspects of the program admission and discharge whenever necessary at the CMAM sites.
- Providing health facility staffs with technical support in convening meetings and answering questions on topics relevant to the project as necessary.
- Follow-up and ensure that the community groups interacts with the beneficiaries properly
- If there is a problem, find out what is wrong and find a solution or else contact your immediate supervisor
- Provide success stories / case studies in the intervention with coordination of Health Facility Incharge, Supervisor and DNO.
- Perform any other duties requested by the immediate supervisor
Objective 2
Supervise medicines administration in OTP activities
Tasks & responsibilities
- Follow and respect the current protocols specially drug administration i.e. for de-worming, malaria, EPI schedule and micronutrient mineral/ Vitamin A supplements targeting children and PLW with proper documentation.
- Add the activities linked to health and nutrition education in the protocols
- Follow the treatment of the beneficiaries through home visits with support of community groups.
- Participate in the follow-up of stock request and consumption.
- Achieve ideal weight gain for enrolled patients as early as possible.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of the stock distributed through CMAM activities.
- Analyse the nutritional situation
- Compile the statistical data inconjucation with NIS Assistant (admission, default, cured, absent, death) and draft a report on activities with timely submission to the program.
Objective 3
Network and coordinate with the relevant sectors
Tasks & responsibilities
- Establish good relationship with the relevant stakeholders (DOH/PPHI and community)
- Respond and coordinate properly with Nutrition Supervisor representing ACF.
- Establish a network with the other actors in the working area (I/NGO)
- Establish a good understanding of the program within the community
- Establish link and meetings with the community leaders and different group existing in the working area.
INTERNAL & EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIP
Internal
· Should build and maintain effective relationships, with their team, colleagues, and members.
External
· Should build strong professional relations with ACF staff and other stakeholders for mutual working and understanding with cross referral mechanism and cooperation resulting in integrated interventions.
REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
· Fill OTP registration cards of patient
· Document screening, MM supplementation and de-worming activities
· Documentation of referrals records like referrals for EPI vaccination, ANC, PNC
· Maintain session record
· Submission of daily, weekly and monthly nutrition activity reports to NIS Assistant
· Incorporate nutrition activity reports with the DHIS of health system
· Maintain supply consumption reports / stock register on daily basis
· Produce default tracing, death and referral reports timely.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Nursing/Dispensary/LHV/Midwife/CMW with 1 Year working experience in NGO / INGO in relevant position and Programme (i.e., CMAM & IYCF).
or
· 3 years working experience with NGO / INGO in relevant position and Programme (i.e., CMAM & IYCF).
SKILLS
ESSENTIAL
· 1-3 years’ experience with NGO / INGO working with nutrition program on CMAM and IYCF
· Ability and willingness to autonomously travel to duty site/ health facility and villages when required
· Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions like long distance walking to work/distribution sites
· Excellent spoken and written local (Pashtu) and English language skills
· Good interpersonal and communication skills
PREFERRED
- Experience in closely working with DOH and Taluka/District HQ Hospitals and at health facility level is advantageous
- Previous experience working in clinical setting/CMAM is an asset
- Ability to prepare weekly and monthly program reports
- Candidates will be preferred who belong to ACF-intervention areas/UCs.
