Main Objectives
Supporting the Medical Coordinator through delegated tasks and responsibilities including administrative tasks related to the coordination of work, ensuring good relationships with local and national authorities and ensuring adequate program management in the projects, according to MSF protocols, (para)medical standards, rules of hygiene and the standard precautions in order to ensure the delivery of quality medical care for patients and their communities as well as to improve the health conditions of the targeted population
Accountabilities
- Monitoring, and evaluating the implementation of medical activities in the project, visiting projects according to preset schedule and participating in defining the human resources needs, materials and techniques. Assisting in the implementation of MSF protocols, (para) medical standards, the rules of hygiene and universal precautions in service.
- Assisting in the collection of information on national health policy (meetings, reports, articles, etc.), collecting and participating in the analysis of epidemiological data (meetings, reports, articles, etc.) from the projects.
- Support projects’ development by answering medical questions from the field, participating in briefings and debriefings of medical staff and replacing temporarily a member of the field team when necessary, in order to keep a smooth functioning of the projects.
- Monitoring and evaluating that
- the medical follow up of patients (treatment, improvement) is properly done as per MSF standard by the medical team project.
- all medical expenses associated with the patient are properly proceed as per MSF standards
- Procedure on the administrative and medical information (reports, ongoing treatments), the discharge of patients and return to their homes are properly implemented.
- Supporting the project teams and participating in the management of the medical team in the capital (meeting, training, monitoring their work, assessments, etc.).
- Guide and support the project health policy’ responsible on the health policy implementation at project level. Participating in the evaluation of hospital structures that can serve as reference structures for national and international staff. Participating in the medical monitoring of MSF personnel and overseeing all medical expenses associated with various consultations and hospitalizations as delegated by medco. For any communication with Medco on exceptional case discussion, any case needs prior Medco ap-proval or sick leave more than 1 week should be communicated through Medco Assist to Medco.
- Carry-out administrative (inventory and management of the medical operational library, archiving of data and medical reports, etc.), information gathering and data collection tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project and support decision-taking
- Support and coach MFPA/MTL/MFP in the data collection and management from the projects as well as preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports and organizing data archiving and medical reports in the project.
- Mission Strategy: Contribute to strategic decision-making in the mission, as delegate by the Medco, organise & oversee mission-level strategic processes such as CMT meetings, 12M process.
- Operational support
- Assist in exploratory missions and assessments
- Assist in translations, formulation of letters, etc
- Can replace temporary the MTL/MFP at field level for short period term assignment.
- Field visit to projects locations and Islamabad on regular basis
- Represent MSF externally as delegated by the Medco especially in Balochistan
- Close collaboration and support to the mission advocacy strategy as delegated by Medco
- Establish and maintain network with relevant interlocutors ( governmental health authorities, civil society, INGO, …) especially in Balochistan as delegated by the Medco.
- Performing other duties at the request of Medco (exceptional strengthening of a field team, etc.)

Education:
Experience:
Minimum 1 year MSF experience in a medical position or equivalent experience with an INGO or other sector (e.g. hospital).
Experience of data recording and analysis, proven ability in report writing
Experience in training, coaching and people management an advantage
- Good clinical knowledge; experience or strong interest in Reproductive health issues, and an understanding of humanitarian medical activities
Languages:Proficient in English, Urdu and any other relevant local languages
Competences:
Good computer skills (Word, Excel and Outlook) are essential
Respectful communicator, diplomatic and tactful in dealing with people
Strong sense of medical and professional integrity and confidentiality
Precise, meticulous and hard working
Well organized, responsible and willing to take initiative
Quick and eager to learn: willing to receive instruction and to share knowledge
Capacity to work in a multidisciplinary and international team.
Flexibility and adaptability to work in other MSF locations if necessary, in remote areas with marginalized communities, in case of emergencies to work longer hours, extra days to meet the needs of the program.
