Basic Job Responsibilities:

1.    Showing up to duties on time and take proper over from previous duty doctor.

2.    Receiving patients from OPD/ER on admission. Proper history taking, filling admission papers, following admission orders. Informing consultants of admitted patients.

3.    Preparing pre-op patients for Surgery, informing consultants, anesthetist and OT

4.    Sending labs, scheduling radiological procedures, follow-up of reports. Interpreting reports and informing consultant of any abnormalities.

5.    Carrying out bedside procedures such as catheterization under aseptic measures, pass NG and pleural tap a advised by Consultant and allowed by Head of MSA

6.    Conducting daily rounds and documenting those rounds in the form of progress notes.

7.    Dealing with patients active complaints & documenting accordingly.

8.    Conducting rounds with consultants, documenting rounds, ensuring round orders are carried out.

9.    Keeping consultants informed about patient’s condition and following any orders given on phone/round

10.  Maintaining medication charts up to date. Entering medication on MAR sheets with proper routes, dosages and interval. Entering medication properly in Medix with dose, number of days and interval

11.  Counselling patients/attendant about procedure/treatment as advised by Consultant.

12.  Deal with acute medical emergencies without creating panic & informing seniors accordingly

13.  Maintaining good communication with nursing staff

14.  Making discharges on time with proper discharge notes and discharge medication.

Following all policies of Hospital and Department in true letter and spirit.
