| Job Description: |
A. Functional Competencies:
- The staff nurse will remain pleasant, sympathetic and concerned towards her patients and she will administer maximum nursing care according to the needs of the patient.
- She/he will maintain patient care environment in her ward / department in which the values customs and religious beliefs of her patients are respected.
- she/he will not disseminate personal information of the patient to any in concerned person
- She/he will maintain exemplary conduct, discipline and character.
- She/he will be under the immediate supervision of matron and will be directly answerable to her in all matters relating to conduct and discipline.
- She/he will be responsible for the general supervision of the ward.
- She/he will attend ward rounds with concerned specialist and carry out orders issued by her without any delay
- She/he will maintain VIS (Vital Signs) chart and performs nursing.
- In the event of a patient condition taking a serious turn she will inform the MO and consultant immediately and pending his arrival she will take such interim/resuscitative measures as may appear to her as necessary to meet the requirements of the case.
- She/he should pay particular and immediate attention to the seriously sick patient and should be well conversant with handling emergencies.
- She/he will ensure completion of paper/file work and immediately start of newly admitted patient as per orders of consultant/medical officer.
- She/he will ensure the appropriate administration of drugs to the patients so that any dose may not be missed or repeated on charge of shift.
- .She/he will prepare the pharmacy sheet and will collect the medicine from pharmacy for panel patient who reduced for pharmacy.
- She/he will ensure the retire of all extra/unused medicine at the time of patient discharge.
- She/he will bring in to the notice of Director Nursing for any loss and damage to the hospital property.
- She/he will be responsible for all dangerous drugs to be kept under lock and key.
- .Before going off duty. She will record in the report book any notes on special cases. Which may be necessary for the information of next taking over staff.
- Her/his utmost effort should be to gain confidence of patient in her/his capabilities.
- To follow the SOPs in letter and spirit.
- To provide prompt patient care precisely according to instruction given by consultant or medical officer.
- To be vigilant to charges in hearth condition of the concerned patients.
- She/he will mark her/his attendance on biometric attendance machine at reception 1 on assuming.
- To take over the charge of each patient physically on the bed side
- To check medicines as per treatment orders of consultant/medical officer.
- On taking over the duty she/he should ensure availability and serviceability of each and every item and particularly equipment at the nursing counter.
- To check each and every item of crash cart and to check expiry date of each injection/medicine.
