Overview
The Food Security/Agriculture Assistant is responsible for the implementation and follow up of the project activities related with the permagarden modality, ensuring the provision of the required inputs to the beneficiaries, the technical support and organizing trainings. The FS/Agri assistant will work in collaboration with the social mobilization team to increase the effectiveness of interventions.
Objective 1
To ensure the efficient and timely implementation and follow up of FSL activities related with the home gardening component, cereal seeds distribution and improved livestock management trainings in the project sites
Tasks & responsibilities
· To facilitate community mobilization team in introducing the activities linked with parmagardens, improved livestock management and cereal seed distributions.
· To work with community committees to ensure the identification and selection of the most vulnerable and suitable beneficiaries as per criteria and provide information to ensure accountability fairness and transparency during implementation of activities;
· To work closely with community structures to follow up on implementation of planned community activities
· Provide technical support to the communities at their door steps with regards to agriculture and livestock management.
· To participate in the planning of weekly and monthly activities;
· To support the implementation of capacity building interventions for communities, collaborating with the Community Mobilization team in the identification of training venues, remuneration to beneficiaries, ensure attendance of trainees, follow up and supporting report writing process.
· To collect the required information in the field to facilitate the follow up of the project, with the support of the community mobilizers;
· To maintain records of the technical implementation in electronic form and hard copy, if required;
· To facilitate the evaluation of the project in the field, as required;
· To participate in assessments.
Objective 2
To organize and provide support to communities and beneficiaries to establish linkages with government agriculture department
Tasks & responsibilities
· To ensure that with the support of deputy program manager, strong linkages are established with government line agencies.
· To ensure that at the exit of project, communities are able to seek support from the government line agencies.
· To ensure that communities have ample knowledge about the role and responsibilities of agriculture department including it sub departments such as agriculture extensions, veterinary extension, fisheries, forestry etc.
· To facilitate the exposure visits of livestock extension workers to designated veterinary facilities.
· To maintain hard and soft record of correspondence with government line agencies.
Objective 3
Reporting and documentation
Tasks & responsibilities
· To maintain correct data base of beneficiaries, distribution records, training records and cash disbursement records as per compliance.
· Submission of records to relevant department which include finance and logistics.
· To produce project activity reports from the area of operation as per reporting schedule or when needed;
· To report any changes in the context to allow for timely changes in the project activities.
· To collect and report any new security information, incident or any change of the context to the Field Supervisor;
· To respect the security guidelines as set in the Security Plan.
